Online Comic

As you probably know, Rock School appears in a Boston area music mag called The Noise.  The March edition is online only. So I send them a long, vertical comic that fits the column where the content appears. Here’s the 2010 comic, since it’s no longer online in the other location.

Okay, how about this one? Who’d like to manufacture this product and take it to market?

Any manufacturers/distributors out there? This is a golden opportunity. Rock School will be happy to endorse the manufacture and distribution of this product in exchange for, say, 25% of the gross?

Daily Comic Strip?

I posted a few Rock School comics in single panel form, so I guess I should post a few “dailies” as well. Newspapers are probably not long for this world, but as long as there are newspapers there will be daily comic strips. Comic strips are licensed to the newspapers via syndicates. Maybe the syndicates should license Rock School! I mean, how can newspaper readers resist a comic like this?

Oftentimes, daily strips feature a single theme for an entire week. So I’d need to come up with a bunch of strips based on the same idea…

Pretty hilarious, right? Maybe you disagree. How about this one, then?

Having a theme that lasts for five days makes the job easier in some ways. If you can think of one gag about the theme, how hard can it be to think of a few more? Being a syndicated cartoonist would be easy!

I’m sure the folks from the syndicates, who are probably all reading this right now, can’t wait to sign Rock School to their roster. Let the bidding war commence!

On the other hand, I think I still prefer the larger format showcased in the Comics area of this site. (But if any of you syndicate folk need some Rock-related comics in your stable of strip offerings, you know where to find me.)

Single Panel Comic?

I need to post something here. Thing is, there’s no Rock School “news” right now, so what should I post?

I thought I’d try an experiment and pretend that Rock School is a single panel comic. I should say that I have no intention of posting a comic every day. But I wanted to see what a single panel comic would look like. So I made this one.

Looks okay, but maybe it’s a bit too dry – too subtle. The Rock School strip works better when an interaction of some sort is demonstrated, either within “the band” or with others in the music “scene.” Hmmm. How about a single panel comic that shows a club owner?

That’s a little better. But you know what? There needs to be some physical comedy. And physical comedy requires a bit of cause and effect. Like, perhaps this example.

Seems “cause and effect” really needs more than one panel, right? Maybe the single panel comic doesn’t do Rock School any favors (either that or I need to try some more). I think I prefer the larger format showcased in the Comics area of this site.
